Contact your insurance company to initiate a claim. You will most likely be visited by an adjuster to assess the damage. Alternatively, in the event of a widespread hail storm, your provider may have a claim center that you will be directed to for the assessment. (Some insurance adjusters may attempt to encourage you to have the repairs performed by a “preferred” vendor. This is sometimes referred to as “steering” which is illegal in many cases. You have the right to choose who repairs your damage.)
The estimate that you receive may or may not be accurate, depending on the adjuster. I prefer to personally inspect the damage and compare it to their estimate prior to scheduling the repair in an effort to avoid any delays in the completion and return of your vehicle. Any discrepancies between the estimate and the final invoice I will resolve with the insurance company by submitting a supplement.
Hail damage repairs are usually completed in 1-3 days depending on the severity.
